Meet the members of the Student Life Team - Holly Wendell, Emily Daly, and Madison Frigo at the Manchester Rec Park in the parking lot closest to the dog park.
From 1904 to 1925, the Manchester, Dorset & Granville Railroad line, affectionately known as the “Mud, Dirt & Gravel” moved marble from the quarries in Dorset to Manchester Depot. After being cut and polished at the finishing mill, blocks of marble left Manchester on another train headed to New York City to build massive structures such as the New York Public Library.
In 2019, the line was re-born as the Manchester Rail Trail. The trail currently extends from MEMS to North Road with plans to extend the trail to Morse Hill Road and The Dorset School.
More of a stroll than a hike, the trail is 3.75 miles out and back and should take us just over an hour.
